Announcing shorts before Friday features in Silo Park!
We hope you’ve been enjoying this year’s festival, which is still on until Nov. 25 in both Tauranga and Twizel and will be back in Whitianga Jan 3-13. But if you’re in Auckland, good news: Show Me Shorts has teamed up with Silo Park Cinema on the waterfront to bring short films before features! It kicks off this Friday 23 November at 9PM with the animated Aussie short Nullarbor playing before the classic 80s rock-comedy Blues Brothers. Nullarbor was in last year’s SMS programme: directed by Alistair Lock, this animated road comedy is set across the vast and barren landscape of Australia’s Nullarbor Plain.
Other shorts in this year’s lineup include Michael Beran’s story of unlikely friendship Tee Party, Joe Hitchcock’s clay-mation satire The North Pole Deception, SMS 2011 Special Jury Prize winner Cockroach by Luke Eve, and John Banana’s French animated film about an orange who longs to be a pineapple: Orange O Desespoir

Shorts and features will be playing each Friday at 9PM until December 21. Best of all, these showings are free to the public! So grab friends, family, a loved one, or a new hot date and enjoy some shorts and classic films in the open air. The Silo Park Night Market and the shops and restaurants in the area make it a great way to start your weekend.
