Winners announced for SAE People’s Choice Award 2019
Congratulations to the winners of the SAE People’s Choice Award for 2019: Yves Piat, Damien Megherbi and Justin Pechberty for Nefta Football Club.
This is the first year that the SAE People’s Choice Award has been won by a film from outside of New Zealand. Nefta Football Club is a comedy about what happens when two young football fans bump into a donkey lost in the middle of the desert on the border of Morocco and Algeria. Strangely the animal wears headphones over its ears.
If you missed the film during the festival you can catch it here:
Thanks to everyone who attended the festival and voted for their favourite film! There were almost 700 votes received! Also thanks to the team at SAE Auckland for supporting this award category. The winners will receive: NZ$1,500 cash, a copy of Final Draft writing software, an engraved bronze winners badge and a certificate.
Following close behind in the voting scores were two much-loved Kiwi dramas: Walk a Mile and Memory Foam. Congratulations also to the filmmaking teams behind those projects.
