During 2015 Show Me Shorts will mark our 10th birthday – a major milestone for any film festival and we will be celebrating in style! November will see a month long tour of the 40 best local and international short films, beginning with a gala Opening and Awards Night.
Prizes are offered across a range of award categories – including cash, software, filmmaking equipment and industry memberships. The total prize pool is valued at over NZ$35,000. Show Me Shorts’ Academy Awards® accreditation means that the winner of our Best Film Award also becomes eligible to enter the Oscars®.
Show Me Shorts is proud to connect New Zealand audiences with quality short films, celebrate excellence in short film making, and help foster the New Zealand short film community. Our audience numbers are growing exponentially each year as people around New Zealand embrace the high quality selection of cinematic short films we present.
“We’re excited to be back at all the main centres (Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, Christchurch and Dunedin) as well as smaller towns and communities such as Stewart Island, Alexandra and Dargaville. This year we are also working on bringing Show Me Shorts to Nelson and Great Barrier Island for the first time!” -Festival Director Gina Dellabarca
