Show Me Shorts Film Festival presents the StarNow Short Film Seminar in Auckland on Monday November 5th. Open to the public this seminar is especially suited to those who are interested in short filmmaking and is an opportunity to meet experienced filmmakers, see some great shorts and learn about the work that has gone into the filmmakers’ projects.

Alan Parr

is a Year 1 Directing Lecturer at Unitec and also known from the recurring 48 Hour team Idiotvision. When their team got second place in the 2010 annual competition, Alan put the prize money into making the short ‘50% off Mail Order Bride’. The plan? Use this short to promote and source funding for a full length film. At this years seminar, Alan will tell more about the genesis of this short and his short filmmaking experiences in general.

Richard Mans

whose 3D animated Science Fiction ‘Abiogenesis’ was a labor of love that by now has traveled to the 2011 Raindance film festival in London, the 56th Valladolid International Film Festival in Spain and Siggraph Asia 2011 conference in Hong Kong. He will tell us about the collaborations that went into making his vision reality and will bring works in progress to give the audience a greater understanding of what goes into 3D animation and visual effects work.

More presenters to be announced- keep an eye on our website and the Workshops page for updates. The StarNow Short Film Seminar will be followed by networking drinks at the cinema.
Thanks to the New Zealand Film Commission for their support.
